RDRS has distributed immediate emergency packages containing 5 kgs flatten rice, 1 kg molasses and 4 sachets oral saline to 1,000 flood-affected families in Kurigram and Gaibandha districts. Moreover, with support from the World Food Programme (WFP), RDRS has distributed High Energy Biscuit among 10,000 families in Kurigram district. RDRS has also distributed cash grant to 10,100 families (Tk 3,000 for each family) in Kurigram district with support from WFP. Another 1,082 most affected families in Kurigram have been provided emergency assistance with support from the DanChurchAid (DCA) . RDRS has further assisted 1,815 families in Kurigram and Gaibandha districts with the support of ACT Alliance.
Heavy monsoon rain and onrush water caused flood in northern districts of Bangladesh in mid-August this year. Lalmonirhat, Kurigram, Nilphamari, and Gaibandha districts in RDRS working area were affected by the flood. Among these districts Kurigram was severely affected.
