A two-day 14th RDRS Global Partners’ Consultation held in Rangpur concluded on 21 October 2014. As a regular biennial gathering, the Consultation offers a unique opportunity for RDRS to present an overview and analysis of its program, organization and attendant challenges for its national and international resource partners. This is an essential exercise in accountability and shared involvement with a key stakeholder group
The 2014 consultation was attended by 14 representatives from donor/partner agencies, as well as Chair of the RDRS Board of Trustees and senior RDRS staff.
Representatives from Bread for the World (BftW) Germany, Church of Sweden (CoS), DanChurchAid (DCA), Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), Fontilles Spain, ICCO Netherlands, Lutheran Life Together Japan, Stromme Foundation Norway, IRRI Dhaka, Water Aid Bangladesh, and Lutheran World Federation Geneva participated.
National expert Prof. Imtiaz Ahmed from Dhaka University provided a brief keynote analysis of the national Bangladesh context to launch the event. Sessions were then devoted to discussion and analysis of different aspects of the RDRS development and microfinance programs as well as human and financial resources. in which challenges and ways forward were reviewed. The presence of impressive Federation leader Aroti Rani gave real focus to a debate on future roles for RDRS in relation to the Federation movement it has nurtured. The consultation offered RDRS good advice in moving forward.
The date for the 15th RDRS Partners’ Consultation was provisionally agreed for the 25-26th October 2016.
