Most of the poverty prone people are deprived of the light of education; hence they have little knowledge about good health and its benefits in life. To develop the socio-economic conditions of this community a disease free healthy generation is very much essential. Therefore, as to address the needs, ASA felt the urge of educating the underprivileged and less aware people about Heath rights and services through experts.
The primary objective of this awareness program is to “Keep people disease free through prevention”. The diseases like diarrhoea, malaria, dengue, hookworm, diabetics, high blood pressure etc get spread due to irregular lifestyle and lack of knowledge. The awareness program will educate them how to adopt a healthy lifestyle and how to prevent unwelcoming diseases.
The target people of this program are mostly the member and their family of ASA microfinance program. The awareness messages and demonstrations are conveyed through the Loan Assistants/Loan Officers/Assistant Branch Manager during their regular group meeting with members. Each program duration will be of 30/40 minutes. To ensure proper message delivery and display of demonstration the loan officers are given sufficient on the job by training through the Branch Managers. An instruction manual is provided to the LA/LO/ABM long before the program day for an intensive preparation.
The “awareness day campaign” is celebrated once in every month all over the Bangladesh on a selective subject predefined by the organization. Every single employee participates in this awareness program on that same day. ASA has been collaborating with Millennium Development Goal 2015 through its active participation in “eradicating poverty and hunger” by microfinance for a long time. In recent times it adopted health issue as another primary agenda and therefore it declares four concerned issues as their primary goal addressing the needs, which are-
